Isaac- 8 weeks.... BUT today is Ripley's 1st BIRTHDAY!!!

So, lets start with the birthday boy! Christopher had to work today so we gave him his birthday present last night- a blue rope with a tennis ball on it. HE LOVES IT- so much that he has literally eaten the tennis ball. Also, the rope is unknotted and beginning to be shredded! Typical Ripley!!! So you know, he also weighs about 70 pounds and is still in love with the doggy park!

New things for Isaac... My angel is an alarm clock! He needs to eat every 3 hours day or night and on the nose! That basically means 2 hours of sleep between feedings- ie a chronically sleep deprived mommy who averages 5.5-6 hours of sleep a night- which means a chronic headache, usually not showered, most of the time brushed teeth and nothing else because I have barely enough energy to be awake let alone actually do anything... that being said, we did do things this week. Grandpa Steve surprised us all on Monday by showing up!!! He painted our living room and it is fabulous! He was here until noon on Thursday. It was so great to have company during the day and Isaac just loves him! On Tuesday we had to get our taxes done so Isaac was watched by grandma Shannon! She loved every second!! (Of course, he was a little angel for her!) On Wednesday, I got my haircut (a rather disgusting bob- definately not what I asked for) and grandpa Steve babysat for an hour or so! He even changed his diaper twice!!! (What a guy- didn't even get peed on!) On Thursday the weather wasn't bad so Mommy and Isaac went for our first walk on the bike path while daddy and Ripley went to the doggie park! First trip in the stoller- see pic! Friday was a special day, mommy and daddy actually went on a date! Grandma Jo (the residency coordinator here- who also used to babysit Christopher, Eric and Grant back when they lived in Sioux Falls) anyway, she came over and watched the little guy. Once again, angelic! Honestly though, the last really bad day that we have had was last Monday- when Christopher was, of course, on call. Grandpa Steve definately got a taste of my challenging baby- if anyone questions his behavior, now you all have someone to confirm my stories with! He has been smiling and giggling more and playing more as well. However, he still needs to be held ALL THE TIME! For the most part at night, when we actually get our naps at night (how they feel- I don't even know what deep sleep would feel like) he does go back to sleep well and stay asleep. We have only sporatically needed to let him sleep on mommy this week. He is still eating well and growing like a weed! It does just amaze me how big he has gotten! Next Saturday he will be 2 months old!!! Next Sunday he is going to be baptised- so lets all cross our fingers that he appreciates it!! (I am thinking it should be ok as we wash his hair much like they pour the baptism water)-- which reminds me... yesterday he took a bath with daddy. As before, he loves baths. Well, we decided to see how he'd do if he was completely underwater. We didn't "Dunk him" but none-the-less, he HATED it! He basically inhaled the bath water :( Bad mommy and daddy! We are so excited to see many of you next weekend!
