So, since the beginning of Isaac's spat with colic, I have hoped for a 6 month old baby.... and now I have one and he is AMAZING! This month has been so much fun even with me being on my ER rotation and having to work 1p-11p some nights. The weekend of Isaac's 6month birthday we took a bike trip to Falls Park to explore the falls as they are massive because of all the rain! Isaac didn't so much appreciate the burty bike thing but we are hoping he grows into it! We did go for a family run this month with Isaac in the burley and it went really well! We spent the 4th of July weekend with Ron and Nancy in Red Wing on the boat!! Isaac actually did very well and slept not too badly on the boat (was a tad nervous for sea-sickness for him, but he has his mommy's sea-legs!) Unfortunately, July 2 was when his first tooth decided to start coming in and July 5th was when his second tooth decided to start coming in so he was a pretty fussy baby. This is so not his fault though! He liked the boat but did not like his life-jacket! NOthing against the life-jacket, it is super cute, but he didn't appreciate it up around his neck! Grandma had a pool even for Isaac to swim in in the back of the pool! As you can see, he liked it lots! 4th of July, mommy and daddy did a 5K road race and grandpa ron did a 10K road race... grandma and Isaac cheered loudly! Grandpa won his age group and daddy got 2nd in his age group! Mommy didn't win anything but ran her fastest 5K ever! Isaac stayed away for some "early" fireworks and seemed to be amazed by them. somehow, however, he slept through the big ones! When I say big ones I mean BIG ones- some were so loud car alarms were going off... Isaac, miraculously, slept through it all! He went for his first ever tube ride that weekend and it was the one time he didn't cry while wearing his life jacket. Very VERY sadly, Isaac had his first haircut this month :( The back faux mullet was getting very long and we caved! We may have cut off a tad too much because, life everything else, Isaac unfortunately inherited his mommy's hair... meaning, he has a wicked duck-tail! Promise that his cut is actually even, the duck-tail just skews it! Last weekend Isaac and Alice had a play date! They actually interacted (see pics)! We had our first trip to the pool (thanks to Alice who goes all the time lucky girl) and we are now in love! When we got home from the pool, Alice and Isaac took a bath together to get off all the sun screen- Isaac didn't really enjoy this particular bath as he had not napped that afternoon- he really hopes Alice doesn't take it personally! This week Auntie Molly came for several days!! Auntie babysat Isaac for the whole day on Wednesday, unfortunately, Isaac was being Isaac and the day was a tad rough... Isaac would only eat his bottle (SO not like him) and didn't nap well at all! Once again, Isaac hopes Molly doesn't take it personally.... he LOVES her much!!!!
As far as what we do... we are scooting and scooting and scotting! We have taken 3 steps of crawls at most because, frankly, scooting is super fast! He loves that he can sit up from laying down and does that frequently. He has pulled himself to standing using our knees! Tonight Isaac ate his first real dinner... spaghetti and real peas (not baby food peas)... what a MESS!!!!! It was awesome (pics eventually!) Ripley is a great rag and mop by the way! We then took a bath by ourselves in the real tub and actually enjoyed it!!!
what a blessing he is! What a blessing having Ripley is! Residency on the other hand is anything but... can we be done NOW?!
