all the things that Isaac does...

Hello family and friends...
So, you all saw that super cute pic of Isaac as a puppy for Halloween... well, at our local Hyvee grocery store they had a halloween costume contest and Isaac won the 4 and younger age group!!! $50 savings bond!!!! I mean, I knew he was the cutest baby on the planet but now it is proven!!! Lately Isaac has continued to do super cute things...

1. pointing: Isaac loves to point at pretty much everything. Usually he is doing it because he wants to eat it (his bottle) or because he wants to touch it (Ripley) or sometimes he just points at things that catch his eye (our Christmas lights on our mantel)

2. rings: We have the toy that has 5 progressively larger diameter rings that you stack on the center pole (a toy that we ALL played with as kids) ... well, Isaac has mastered putting the rings on the pole... he can even figure out when he puts them on in the wrong order and, if given enough time, will eventually get them in the right order with the smallest one (the red one) on top and the blue one (the biggest one) on bottom

3. throwing: Over hand throwing (technically an 18month old milestone for development)... Up until last night he would swing his arm as if to throw it, but not actually let go of the ball, he would then crawl and hand you the ball he was trying to throw... well, last night he officially mastered throwing the baseball (go figure) overhand... AND MOST of the time he does so with his LEFT hand! (Obviously this is to much the delight of his daddy) future Cy Young winner?! (although, personally, I would prefer an infielder rather than a pitcher for my son- the pitchers seem to have all the injuries and that is SO much pressure to pitch perfect!)

4. talking: Dada, daddy, dad, hi dad, yaya (mama), duck (everything is a duck), ball (although usually this comes out as duck!), dog, and you could make an argument for grape.... there may be more but I can't remember right now... ones we are working on: Rip or Ripley (occassionally something like Rip comes out), mommy, love you, up, all done, peas

5. sounds: he knows a cow says 'moo', a motorboat says "mmmmmm" (the raspberry noise with your lips) and he knows aunties name is Moo as well (first person he knew the name of that wasn't dada or yaya!

6. walking: well, he has taken 2 official steps maybe twice so not officially walking yet. will push his walker for hours and even do so one handed, so just a matter of time.... know what, i am SO okay with this delay for him!

7. books: loves to read books! he especially loves his Max the Minnow book (from uncle Joe Joe) with the crazy moving eyes and his animal board book!

8. favorite foods: Peas, beans, grapes, hot dogs, sausage... for his birthday I am thinking chili and grapes although he also loves berries and apples, corn, brocoli (whole), hamburger, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms... he is a FABULOUS eater (well, its one bite for Isaac, one bite for Ripley!)

9. Ripley: they are still the best of friends. I am always so entertained how nervous everyone else is (everyone being not me or Christopher) when they see Isaac and Ripley together... yes, it looks like Isaac's hand is in Ripley's mouth, yes it probably really is, No, Ripley won't bite Isaac, and Yes Isaac will get mad at you if you take Ripley away from him when they are playing. Yes, Ripley does accidentally knock Isaac over or bump him with toys but Isaac usually laughs at this (if he cries he gets over it quickly) and yes isaac is usually the instigator sticking his fingers in Ripleys nose and eyes and ears and pulling his hair all the while Ripley just takes it!

10. comical new favorite toy: his penis! In the tub he usually plays basketball the entire time (loves to 'make baskets') but occassionally finds his built on toy and will laugh and smile while playing with it. Also comical, while throwing the baseball last night, Isaac proved to be "one-of-the-guys" adjusting his cup (his diaper) after nearly every throw! Super funny!

As you can see, we are so blessed with a very charismatic, intelligent, persistent, dynamic, passionate, and adorable little man (lets face it, he is so not a baby anymore and he is so not 'little')!

Holiday plans for those interested in knowing...
