long time... worth the wait!

Well hello loved ones...
yes, it has definately been awhile--- guess we have been very busy!! I am not going to try to re-cap our lives since the last post (in Jan!!) I will just go from where we are right now! Isaac will be 21 months old in 1 week and is the most AMAZING child anyone could ever ask for! He is ridiculously smart, loves to talk and repeat everything that is said, loves to snuggle, loves his mama and daddy and rip and is just so great! He does have his favorites: woof-woof, blankie, duk (milk), cars and trucks, baseball (home-run home-run... yes he actually says that!), football (well, ball in general)... his favorite people are 'gramps' and 'nam nam' (uncle tom)... anytime you say soccer he says Grant (and he loves Grant's girlfriend bibby (libby)!) favorite movie is still Finding Nemo (although will tolerate others now!) we have had major daycare issues these last couple of weeks but will be starting at a new in-home day care in 2 weeks (although Isaac will miss Miss Robin greatly!)
More recently Uncle Eric came to visit and Isaac LOVED that! We went to the apple orchard where Isaac personally picked every apple and rode on a pony!!
Big news, however... Isaac is going to be a big brother! He knows where mommy's baby is and loves to give it kisses. We are due Feb 29 (yes, leap day!) but are shooting to make it to Valentine's Day!
Enjoy the pics!
so on other news... Molly graduated from Gustavus and is now in Malaysia for a year! What an awesome experience for her! I am so proud of her for taking that leap and going for it--- this is bound to be a time she will never forget... she will be learning lots.. and I am expecting come back with a whole changed view on the world!
to be more philosophical... as Isaac gets older and now that we are pregnant with baby number 2, things have become a lot more amazing to me. First, I think about my mom a lot more. yes, there are all those things where I said "wow, its my wedding, I wish my mom were here" or graduation or anything for that matter but honestly, the one thing I wish she was here for was to see me as a mom, to meet my Isaac... I wish I could tell her how grateful that I really am for her as my mom. I was the worst daughter to her for the longest time and now that I am a mom I am heartbroken by how I treated her and I will never have that chance to apologize and to just thank her for all she did for me. Of course, I am raising a mini-me which was always her dream for me ("Heather, I hope someday you have a child just like you so you can see what I went through" etc... I heard that more than once).. well mom, I have one! The things that make Isaac so awesome are the same things that make him a challenge... his passion- intelligence- drive- stubborness- independence- spirit... Those days where I am at my wits end with the above in there less flattering twist I just wish I could call my mom and say I get it and boy do I owe you! The fear that I have is that I won't be able to handle the teenage version of myself in Isaac... or all the other things that I did that were less than awesome to my mom... my huge God-send however that I have that she didn't is Christopher... I couldn't do this alone and I won't be able to do it alone (I had a sneak preview!) all in all, though, I have turned out pretty ok and that gives me a lot of hope and thrill for isaac! hopefully he won't have the same awful situation of losing me as I lost my mom and will have that advantage and be even greater than all that I have accomplished.. how exciting that is!!!

alas, the time has finally come...
None of you have any desire to hear much, rather, you would rather just look at the fabulous pics of the cutest most amazing baby in the whole wide world!
Well, too bad.... Christmas was SO MUCH FUN! Isaac somehow mastered the "oooo" when he opened gifts, looking excited and happy over everything (even the clothes mommy got him)... he waited patiently and excitedly while his toys were engineered out of the packaging and then boy did he play! He is in love with the holidays!
A couple of weeks before Christmas we had planned an over-night play date with Alice (and her mommy and daddy Anne and Mitch) that ended up being an entire weekend thanks to the blizzard! It was a lot of fun! Obviously they bathed together but they also enjoyed fighting over the rocking chair (thank goodness we have 2!)
His birthday, of course 2 days after Christmas, was also a blast! My favorite part, hands down was watching him eat his bear cake! to keep my mommy's tradition alive, I made and frosted that whole thing by myself (ok, I have a long way to go to be as good as my mom was but this was my first attempt!!)
Other things happening lately... walking! Isaac is pretty good at it but honestly doesn't see the urge and need when crawling is still so much faster! he is just a gumby baby that folds in half, loves to fall over, climb, fall, attempt running (I swear he will run any second now)! He loves Ripley still and has definitely learned that if he doesn't want to eat something, he has the dog to feed it to (way annoying for mommy and daddy!)
Oh, sadly, once again Isaac took after his mommy and has bad ears :( He got tubes in his ears on New Years Eve Day (I know many of you will find this as a surprise, but his ENT apt was only the day before- guess it pays to have 2 parent doctors in town!) Surgery went well, coming out of anesthesia, however, did not (once again, just like mommy!) Things were going great for a whole week and a half and bam, bilateral ear infection again!!! Now, wonderfully, the gunk just flows out and we get to torture the little guy with ear drops :(
Enjoy the pics!!!
