My baby is 1month old!

Isaac is a whole month (well and 3 days) right now, 5 weeks tomorrow! I cannot believe it! He is getting big! His newborn outfits are on their way out- although he is getting one last wear out of them (see below!) This week we have been gradually improving, especially with mom off of milk! Auntie Molly was here Wed through Friday (much needed as Tuesday was not so great!) Isaac really loved seeing his auntie- almost as much as I am sure she loved seeing him! Other big things for Isaac this week... started zantac (an anti-acid/reflux medication) which we are noticing has been slowly helping?!! He took his first shower yesterday (with daddy) and he absolutely LOVED IT!!! We have started to blow-dry Isaac's hair- 1. because he gets a super great afro 2. because it is warm 3. the blow drier is great white noise! He also had his first play-date yesterday! Alice Hofer (Anne and Mitch's baby- 6 weeks and 1 day older than Isaac) came over yesterday! Alice was super sweet and smily- to match Isaac's very fussy day... but we got some great pics (notice the one's where Alice is actually sucking on Isaac's fingers!) The last 2 nights I am VERY happy to report have been GREAT! Last night he ate at 9pm, went to bed about 11 (mommy and daddy's fault- we had a residency event) but then didn't get up until 3am to eat again!!! We went back to bed at 4am then didn't get up again until 8am!!! I am convinced it is because of the noise machine I got (plays all types of noise) but we played the human heartbeat noise last night! 4 weeks old!

So, my little guy is almost a month old- can you even believe it?! Yesterday, his 4 week birthday, we, of course, spent watching the Vikings game... still rather depressed- so we won't go into that! In case you were curious as to his sleeping progress, I hate to report that I think he has regressed! Last tuesday through Friday nights were amazing... since then, however, not so great! We do believe it is because of the dairy factor. Friday night I did have cheese and ice cream and Saturday I believe I also had milk... lets just say we do believe his ickiness at night is related to that! Yay for soy (really, it isn't great at all, but I am trying to stay positive- anything for my babes!) This morning I think I finally realized that yes he is growing! He just seems bigger today! I know that seems silly because OBVIOUSLY he is growing, but I can actually tell now :( Kinda sad really! Oh, he can almost continuously hold his head up on his own! PS his eyes are still blue- although, if you use your imagination, they do have a green hint like mommy!!! Well, here are some more pics, as I cannot help but just take pics of him all day long! isaac 3 1/2 weeks

Well, things may be looking up... Monday night we got 30 minutes of sleep- yes, only 30 minutes! Tuesday, we started to pull out all of the stops... night-time routine... give gas drops (appetizer), nurse (meal), burp, change diaper, swaddle (yes, very tightly), give gripe water (dessert), rock, put in vibrating chair... repeat every 3 1/2-4 hours! yes, we are getting some sleep! Sleep has come much better since! Yesterday, Isaac got his first injury... Ripley jumped over Christopher and one of his paws landed on Isaac's left shoulder/left collar bone scrating his left jaw in the process :( It was quite the screaming fit- poor guy! He is completely ok though- no worries! Today, Isaac and mommy had quite the play time- he was a super happy guy for quite some time after his bath (which he DID NOT cry through for the first time!)... see the cute pics!

Isaac- ~2 weeks

Isaac is doing great, except for the minor colic! He will just cry and cry- poor thing has a horrible gas problem. I give him gas drops before feeding him every time, which does help, but he still gets belly pains :( It is so sad to see him struggle! Last Friday, Ron and Nancy came to visit! It was great having grandma and grandpa here! Isaac went out to eat for his first time last Friday, to Jonny Carino's and he was amazing! (I think he just likes sleeping in his car seat- except when we try to get him to to trick him into sleeping!) Daddy was on call on Monday and Mommy and Isaac had a really rough day :( Luckily, daddy came home for about 45 minutes Monday before going back to the hospital- this just helped center mommy! Monday and Tuesday nights were especially frustrating! Tuesday afternoon, however, we went and had Isaac's first pictures taken! (If you right click on any of the pictures, you can chose the option to save the picture to your own computer!) Grandma Julie came Tuesday night and is still here! Isaac is loving staying up at night reading Eragon with grandma- mommy and daddy especially love this time- extra sleep! Last night (Wednesday) Isaac was an angel! Mommy and daddy slept from 1030-1215 (Isaac was with grandma until 12) then we got up and fed Isaac from 1215-1ish. He was fussy until about 130. He then slept until 415! (on mommy of course!) Mommy and Isaac bonded over milk until 530. Isaac then slept on mommy again until 830! What a beautiful night! Enjoy the pics! For those of you who have asked... Ripley is doing better than I would have predicted. He loves to give kisses- which is kinda scary when you have a 65+ pound puppy running at your 7# newborn! Anytime Isaac cries, Ripley is the first one there! Ripley also doesn't quite understand the crib (Isaac only is in it for short daily naps)- I think Ripley thinks it is like his kennel and Ripley doesn't so much like his kennel. Once or twice a day or so Ripley gets a little feisty- seemingly jealous- as he just wants to be played with. It is so hard, we would like to take him to the doggy park and for more walks, but it is super hard with just me and babes home and how cold it is! He is getting more attention with grandma here!!
