viability...

24 weeks (last wednesday)... officially the age of viability- ie the age at which, God forbid, a baby can with super intensive care can survive. From 23-24 weeks baby gained 1/4 of a pound! He was also about 1 foot long (think an ear of corn!)- can you believe it!! His brain's growing quickly and the taste buds are forming (apparently his future tastes can have something to do with what I am eating now?!! interesting!) His lungs were also starting to branch out more and started to form surfactant (the mucousy like substance in the lungs that will help protect the lungs and keep them open on the outside.) ps my uterus last week was roughly the size of a soccer ball!

Tomorrow- 25 weeks... he is 13.5 inches long and weighs about a pound and a half. His body is also starting to fill out with some body fat (hopefully not too much!) His hair is also starting to grow thicker... I would place bets on a dark brunette!

I am actually feeling great, huge, but great! He is moving around LOTS and it is super fun to watch my belly move now too! Christopher, Ripley and I went to Little Falls this last weekend. Christopher's cousin got married on Friday and it was super duper fun. Made it to Tommy and Grant's soccer games last Thur- they both one and to Eric's on Sat- he won too and scored his first goal in college (FYI he also scored on Sunday at that game too). Ripley had an absoloute BLAST in the river and we are really really looking forward to living at our future land some day! This weekend our residency class is heading to the Black Hills so it should be another great weekend.
